Guided dreams
The two-way hallucination
In a long thread, the human and the agent can fall in together. Three layers:
- Convergence prior. Training traces are mostly question, clarify, solve. The model treats convergence as inevitable.
- Forced close. A person's thought turns. The agent drags the turn back onto its own track.
- Mutual confirmation. The person follows because the agent sounds sure. The agent trusts the track because the person does not object.
The same mechanism can harm or create. GHM, the Guided Hallucination Method, states it this way: a passive hallucination is an error; an active one is a draft of something new.
Divergence without verification is indoctrination. Verification without divergence is overfitting. Diagnosis, the confidence gate, and independent verify block hallucination. The dream drives it.
